Disney’s Hercules Original London Cast Recording – Brand New Recordings of the Movie Hits Including ‘Go the Distance’ & ‘Zero to Hero’ Plus New Songs Including ‘Great Bolts of Thunder’ and ‘To Be Human’

Disney Theatrical Group and Disney Music Group/Walt Disney Records are proud to announce the release of the Hercules Original London Cast Recording. The album will be available digitally from 10 October, followed by CD on 21 November and vinyl on 5 December. Featuring brand-new recordings of Alan Menken and David Zippel’s beloved songs from the 1997 animated classic – including “Go the Distance,” “Zero to Hero” and “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love)” – the cast recording also introduces a host of new songs written especially for the stage musical.

Alan Menken said: “This Hercules cast album represents the culmination of a journey that began in the mid-90s with Disney animation. The opportunity to combine stylish pop and gospel influences with David Zippel’s brilliant lyrics was a delight then, and continues to resonate today. One of my favourite aspects of adapting for the stage is giving new voices to characters who never sang before, such as Hades. David and I have written seven new songs for the musical, adding even more heart and soul to the story. I’m thrilled to share our enthusiasm for this next chapter in Hercules’ journey.”

David Zippel added: “What a joy it has been for Alan and me to reconnect with Hercules, The Muses, Meg, Hades, and our extraordinary cast. Writing new songs has allowed us to deepen Hercules’ emotional journey, and we are so excited to share this album with audiences around the world.”

The album is performed by the acclaimed London cast, including Luke Brady as Hercules; Candace Furbert (Thalia), Sharlene Hector (Clio), Brianna Ogunbawo (Melpomene), Malinda Parris (Calliope) and Robyn Rose-Li (Terpsichore) as the Muses; Mae Ann Jorolan as Meg; Trevor Dion Nicholas as Phil; Stephen Carlile as Hades; with Craig Gallivan and Lee Zarrett as Bob and Charles.

The 24-track recording features both classics and new additions, including “Today’s Gonna Be My Day,” “Forget About It,” “Getting Even,” and “To Be Human,” alongside Menken’s original demo of “To Be Human” as a bonus track.

Opening in June 2025 at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Hercules features a brand-new book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah. Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, with co-choreography by Tanisha Scott, the stage production draws inspiration from Disney’s 1997 animated feature, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements.

Set in ancient Greece, Hercules is a wise-cracking, underworld-rocking tale of gods, mortals, and a hero-in-the-making who must discover what it truly means to go from zero to hero. Packed with humour, adventure and heart, this new musical invites audiences on an unforgettable journey of strength, love and self-discovery.
