Studio Three at Assembly George Square Studios is the home of Australia’s brilliant children’s show ‘Mojo and Jimmy’ for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year.
The heart-warming fun starts immediately when Jimmy enters the stage dressed as a large, bright red tomato which captivates the audience straightaway. This energetic character keeps the children interested throughout with their exaggerated facial expressions and exquisite comedy timing.
We are then introduced to Mojo the monkey whose zany and wild antics keep especially the children engaged and laughing for the hour long performance.
The stage is a simple yet effective set with a banana tree to the side and, as the bananas fall off one by one during the show, we are taught to be kind to each other and show a caring nature. It’s a beautiful moral and delivered strongly and clearly by the two talented performers. A notable mention must also go to the stage hand (dressed as a slug!) for his comedic moments which got us adults laughing too.
The magic tricks in the production are fairly standard and simple but this is a show clearly aimed at children and every single younger member of the audience is engaged wholeheartedly throughout the entire piece.
