Australian based Circus Trick Tease bring their latest production ‘Children are Stinky’ to Palais du Variété at Assembly George Square Gardens. The show explores the question of whether children are stinky, lazy, unintelligent and unimaginative.
Kylie and Jason (a passing nod to their homeland!) are an enthusiastic duo who bring us daredevil stunts, amazing aerials and incredibly fast acrobatics. Combine this with lots of laughs & mischievous fun and you get a perfect show for children here at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Younger members of the audience are invited on stage to participate in the chaos and help us to discover that children are actually full of imagination, creativity and helpfulness.
The talented duo show amazing energy and impressive juggling & acrobatic skills throughout this 50 minute, fast-paced production. Children were enthralled by their antics and the looks on their faces confirmed they were thoroughly engrossed and enjoying themselves.
With a minimalist set, the focus was rightly on Kylie and Jason, their obvious circus skills and rapport. There’s some lovely comedy moments and the inclusion of numerous fart jokes seemed to appeal to the younger audience especially, although possibly using the word ‘fart’ so often was a little cheap at times.
Add to this a fun musical soundtrack and we’re treated to a joyous show with a beautiful message at heart.
